FakeDetective. Part 1 — Artjom Lipin: "THIS IS A LIE! I’ll explain how to spot it"

In this episode of FakeDetective, journalist Artem Lipin discusses how misinformation works in the modern media environment and why false content often appears convincing.

The conversation focuses on information bubbles (echo chambers), the role of social media algorithms, and the difference between outright lies and misleading interpretations based on real facts. Artem explains key concepts such as post-truth, emotional manipulation, and common logical fallacies (for example, confusing correlation with causation).

The video highlights why critical thinking is an essential skill, how different generations interact with information, and why everyone — regardless of age — can be vulnerable to fake news. It also offers practical advice: when and what to fact-check, how to recognize emotionally charged content, and why it is important not to spread unverified information.

This video can be used by teachers and youth workers during lessons or discussions on critical thinking and media literacy, and is also useful for young people who want to better understand how misinformation spreads and how to respond to it responsibly.
