"You still believe this!? ENOUGH!" — FakeDetective, Part 4, featuring Viktor Denisenko

In this episode of FakeDetective, Viktor Denisenko, Doctor of Social Sciences and Head of the Center for the Study of Communication Influence and Propaganda at Vilnius University, explores how fake news functions in today’s media environment and why the concept of “fake” has become broader than simple lies or journalistic mistakes.

The discussion focuses on the difference between disinformation (deliberate manipulation) and misinformation (false information spread without malicious intent), the role of journalists and experts, and the challenges of verifying information in an era of information overload. Special attention is given to post-truth, information bubbles, and the tendency to trust content that aligns with personal beliefs.

The video also offers practical guidance on how to approach news responsibly: what information should be verified first, why cross-checking sources matters, how to evaluate expert opinions, and why respectful dialogue is more effective than confrontation when discussing fake news.

This video is suitable for teachers and youth workers to use in lessons and workshops on media literacy and critical thinking, and is also valuable for young people who want to better understand how misinformation spreads and how to engage with information responsibly.
